AFTER installing Firefox 4, said it's incompatible with Norton toolbar and Yahoo toolbar.. So I removed Firefox 4. Can I get 3.6 back? Now all I have is MS IE. :(

I just would like to reinstall Firefox 3.6 and get things back like they were before I wish I had known that I would lose my Norton tools and my Yahoo tools; I would never have installed Firefox 4. Please...I have uninstalled Firefox 4 and now all I have is IE, which I never thought I would have to use again in my lifetime.

Chosen solution

Norton have produced a compatibilty hotfix for this. I've used it and it works! Hotfix is at: http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-Internet-Security-Norton/Firefox-4-compatibility-hotfix-is-now-available/td-p/428894

Hi, I'm replying to my own question, to say I went ahead and reinstalled Firefox 4. Even a Firefox that freaks me out is better than MS IE. But I really want to get back my Norton tools - all the Norton security and convenience that I have come to rely on, that used to work seamlessly with Firefox 3.6. When will Firefox 4 be compatible with Norton toolbar? Many thanks.

Update. . . .I discovered that I can access my Norton tools from the Norton button at the bottom of the screen. But it's not as convenient as having the toolbar. C'est la vie. It will all work out, somehow, I'm sure. Sorry I freaked out. When I lost 3.6, it was like losing a dear friend. But I do still have my pretty persona :D

It's up to Norton to make their Firefox extensions compatible with Firefox 4.0, supposedly in May.

When it comes to a security issue, shouldn't firefox work out the kinks before issuing an update rather than forcing other programs to adjust to firefox? This is a pretty arrogant opinion. WE are your customers and deserve better service than this!

Many many thanks! It worked just fine. For anyone using this hotfix, read all the instructions carefully; you must have your Norton up-to-date, etc., before you can get the hotfix.

Thanks again, tpocuk. I doubt I can repay you, but I will surely help someone else (with something non-technical, obviously), in your honor. ~kc

Firefox 4 sucks, and does not work with Norton, tab search and many other things. Uninstall it and go back to 3.6 you will be happier.

It is not up to Firefox to make sure Norton works with Firefox. That is crazy. It is up to Norton to make their product better. Do you not understand how it works?

myself was a FF user for last 12 yrs !! even i remember recommending ppl abt it...but FF 4 is a real PAIN IN THE APPROPRIATE PLACE....

it hogs memory...for simple functions (available by default in previous vers) ,now u have to install add-ons for them (like new tab button, FF4 either lets u have a new tab button OR the "+" button near opened tabs..but U CANT HAVE THEM BOTH SAME TIME!! WHAT THE.......

PC hangs/freezes almost everytime i ran FF 4 ..and for that i have lost valuable data..mind u, my machine config is not outdated. I have reverted back to previous vers FF 3.6...and am NOT UPDATING IT SOON....

ALL OF U FOLKS HAVIN PROBS WITH FF4 : easiest solution for all your probs -

1) get rid of FF4 and install the previous vers - http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html after backing up - https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information

OR

2) get an alternative browser

yes folks, the above solution will at least give u peace of mind and a more peaceful good night sleep
