the downloads windows is slow and laggy when starting downloads. firefox overall slows down during downloads

Whenever I start a download with Firefox, on one of many computers, the downloads window is slow to open, taking 10+ seconds. Firefox as a whole locks up during this time. Then, once downloads start, Firefox as a whole is still "chuggy", and isn't nearly as quick to respond.

I had this problem and found out I had a corrupted download history. I had to delete my downloads.sqlite file.
