I have an application where FireFox allows multiple records to be inserted when submitted but this does not occur in Chrome or MS/IE, how do I pursue this type problem?

My web application allows the user to click the save icon to save a new record in a MS/SQL DB where SQL is assigning the record's ID (primary key). If the user double clicks the icon two records get created. (In fact if you rapidly click 4-5 times then it will insert the record that many times. This does not occur with IE or Chrome and I don't know how to resolve the problem as I have striven to get my users to use Firefox because it works better for this application (except for this). My Firefox version is 4.0.1.
