FAFSA's website does not support the newest versions of Firefox.
I am running/new to Ubuntu on my laptop and do not have any of FAFSA'a approved browsers. Any time I try to check the status of my financial aid, I am redirected to this site -- https://fafsa.ed.gov/FAFSA/app/errors?page=incompatibleBrowser -- on both my iPad (safari) and laptop. Will I have to wait for FAFSA to catch up, can I temporarily downgrade to an older version of Firefox, or will I have to find a friend with Internet Explorer?

EDIT: Sorry, after posting noticed you are a Linuz user. May not apply.
That page you linked to indicates that they, FAFSA, have chosen to support up to Firefox 3.6.x only. That is their decision
You may try installing the following Add-on IF and only if you have IE 8 or higher (for safety reasons) installed on your system. The Add-on will use the IE installed on your system to display the page in a Firefox tab. I have this installed and even use it to do Microsoft monthly updates using Firefox:
- IE Tab + (formerly Coral IE Tab): http://coralietab.mozdev.org/installation.html
Modified
Yeah, no IE here..
