I have Mozilla-Ffox on a Dell Vostro desktop, connected to a HP-Officejet 6500. The printer prints from internal drive, but will not print from websites. The printer only ejects a single sheet of blank paper.
The Firefox version 4.0.1 and the Windows 7 op system are correctly identified below. Again, my printer will not print from internet websites, including Yahoo e-mail. The printer appears to respond to websites, but only ejects a single sheet of blank paper when print is initialized.
Chosen solution
Just to be sure everything is covered:
- Did you reset all print.printer preferences, as noted parenthetically in step 2, that were in bold, not just print.print_printer preference?
- Did you exit Firefox (Firefox button > Exit OR File > Exit, if using the Menu Bar), then wait a few seconds and restart Firefox before testing the change(s) per step 4?
- I have an HP 6200 series. Be sure, if yours is a multi-function printer that you have NOT selected the fax (i.e., "HP Officejet 6200 series" NOT "HP Officejet 6200 series fax") in the Printer Name field on the print screen (CTRL+P).

Try the "Reset printer" instructions in this: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Problems_printing_web_pages

Reset printer instructions were followed, and the print set-up was checked for 'print to file' proper printer indentification. This did not solve the problem...

Modified
You don't want Print to File selected if you want to print to paper.
I interpreted "and the print set-up was checked for 'print to file' " to mean that user verified that option was not selected. Maybe not, though.
The easy fix was to download and run M-Firefox-6. The printer can now print off the web. Thanks to all who replied
