When I search for something quite specific (e.g. air canada) I get reasonable results. When I select a site, I am transferred to sites that are irrelevant (webplains, bing, etc). How do I stop this? I can find no setting that disables this.
Search engine does not make any difference. Bing, webplains and others are not on my system. I have removed everything I can find that might contribute. I have run scans for and removed malware. searchqu has been disabled and removed.

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs.
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.
