Can I eliminate the popup blocking me from closing a tab?

Some web sites popup a box when you try to close the tab or window, asking if you are sure you want to close it. You must click OK or else there is no way short of killing firefox to get rid of it. I consider this a security risk, I just want to close the tab period. Is there a setting for this?

Unfortunately there is no way to prevent these dialogs from popping up in Firefox with using an extension - if such an extension exists.
