Not sure if I'm using the right terms but.. -Firefox 8.0.1 is now on my Mac Applications list. -When I tried to upgrade to version 9, it would not drag into my applications folder. -The installer symbol is "stuck" on the desktop and will not transfer into the application folder. -Each time I open the computer, I now have to restart firefox and also get a warning that "this was downloaded from the internet". -The whole system seems to have slowed down

Chosen solution

If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.

Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the disk image (dmg) file to the desktop

  • Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
  • Install the new version that you have downloaded

Your profile data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data if you uninstall and (re)install Firefox.

Thank you for your suggestion. Worked perfectly. Am 77 and trying to keep up with all this but do get frustrated now and then. Appreciate your help.
