I have created a new profile, and tried changing all suggested settings in the Firefox preferences and the about:config page, but it still happens.

Sometimes the loading indicator just keeps spinning. Other times it reports that the server cannot be found.

The only way to fix it is to restart.

May not be related to your problem but some of your Firefox Plugins are out-dated

  • Update All your Firefox Plugins -> https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/
  • When Downloading Plugins Update setup files, Remove Checkmark from Downloading other Optional Softwares with your Plugins (e.g. Toolbars, McAfee, Google Chrome, etc.)

thanks @mha007, i've tried clearing my cookies and cache many times. i've already been through all the steps on this page: Server not found

and this page: Firefox cannot load websites but other programs can

the only extensions/add-ons i'm running are: http://i.imgur.com/nEED9.png

i've just disabled these plugins: http://i.imgur.com/D8CEv.png

now i'll try restarting in Safe Mode
