Firefox crashes
During the last days I had some problems with my system that resulted in several rebooting and system restores. Everything seems to be back to normal now except that FF does no longer open, even in safe mode. Basically, when I click the icon I get the Mozilla Crash Reporter and if I click 'Restart Firefox' I get another report and then another and so on.
Chosen solution
Try to ensure that you have downloaded and installed the very latest Firefox 10.0.1. That was released partly to deal with startup crashes. (There may be a security embargo on the crash reason).
Do NOT use any Windows or Firefox option to delete personal settings or bookmarks and passwords will be destroyed.
Your system detail aside mentions Firefox 10, but
- Firefox 10.0.1 has been released
- your Crash ID report is only showing as Firefox 9.0.1
- Report for CrashID 833a4650-1354-4ac0-88a9-69be82120212
- Signature: mozalloc_abort(char const* const) | mozalloc_handle_oom() | mozilla::Preferences::GetBranch(char const*, nsIPrefBranch**)
Please post back with how you get on. if you continue to crash after updating please post the new Crash ID
Keep an eye on latest firefox issues that may be updated if there is breaking news. No doubt you have already found the article firefox crashes.

Hi,
just to confirm that I solved by installing FF 10.0.1. The reason why it got messed up it is probably due to a system restore I did, that is also why the crash report was mentioning FF 9.0.1, system restore succeeded for all but FF.
Thanks for you help!
Cheers Alex
Hi Alex,
Glad it worked, thanks for posting back.
Firefox restores from Windows do not always work, and if they do, it may be to an older version of Firefox, and that may become problematic.
Cheers, John
