When I install any later version of Firefox than 9.0.1 on my Win 7 Pro 64-bit laptop, the program will not launch the application.

The system process starts loading in the Task Manager and gets up to between 9-15 MB then stalls. My laptop fans starts whirling wildly as if it is overworking. But, the browser application never appears in the Task Manager and the browser, of course, then never actually opens.

When I uninstall and revert back to 9.0.1 it works just fine.

I would like to keep up with later browsers. Any idea what this could be?

Hello skybundle, try to disable firewalls and other security software(antivirus, antimalware) then download a new version of firefox from : http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html and install it (with all security software closed). Tell us if this solve the issue.

Configure Windows Firewall to allow Firefox access to the Internet

thank you
