Hello Battra, Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
Then perform these steps:
- Click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
- In the Firefox options window click the Advanced tab, then select "General".
- In the settings list, you should find the Use hardware acceleration when available checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
- Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.
Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:
[In safe mode hardware acceleration is disable]
thank you
That didn't work what next.
If you use Norton software, try disabling your Norton extensions. As of last week, there were severe compatibility issues with Firefox 24.
I just read your other thread. The problem started after you deleted the places.sqlite database file? There might be other problems in your existing settings. To test how Firefox runs "uncustomized" on your system, could you do a two-minute experiment?
Create a new Firefox profile
It will have your system-installed plugins (e.g., Flash), but no themes, extensions, or other customizations. It also should have completely fresh settings databases and a fresh cache folder.
Exit Firefox and start up in the Profile Manager using Start > search box (or Run):
firefox.exe -P
Any time you want to switch profiles, exit Firefox and return to this dialog.
When creating a new profile, I recommend using the default location suggested, and to avoid data loss, not re-using any existing folder. Before deleting unneeded profiles, I suggest making a backup first in case something were to go wrong.
Is the new profile stable through a few exit and restart cycles?
I think that worked I went through it 10 times and it didn't crash, anything else we need to do?
Hi Battra, this article describes how to migrate data to the new profile. Please post back if there are particular kinds of data that do not migrate well.
Looks like everything is back and nothing is disappearing when I close Firefox and reopen Firefox so it looks like everything is good. Thank you for actually taking the time to listen and help.
