hello bratman0, per default results on google should already open in the same tab. if they don't please make sure that you haven't set to open a new browser window for them in google's settings: https://support.google.com/websearch/answer/425

Thanks phillip. I looked into google setting and that was the problem. Thank you for your help. It was really getting annoying lol

This is just a suggestion. You may be better off opening a new tab / window from any search engine because; If that choice does not help you (and you may go in several pages before you realize this), you can just close that tab / window and be back to the search results. On the other hand, if you have found what you want, you can close the search engines page.
