display pane won't show image

If someone sends me a screenshot using print screen or Snippet in Windows 7, I can no longer view the image in the display pane. Could always see it before. If I try and open the attachment, I receive the message "C:\Users\*******\AppData\Local\Temp\2014_08_14_15_18_121-1.png could not be opened, because the associated helper application does not exist. Change the association in your preferences. My guess is that something got changed with the "association" program, but I can't seem to find my "preferences" anywhere.

Incidentally, I should mention that there is a frame where the image should be, just no image.
