This is only a problem with the list of installed programs. This happens when the updater didn't remove the old entry when updating or a new version had been installed and the old version hadn't been uninstalled.

Uninstalling the old version would actually uninstall the current release. You would have to edit the registry and remove the involved keys manually.

  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Mozilla Firefox (????)

Uninstalling v28 ALSO UNINSTALLED v32. With my browser gone I had to use Internet Explorer (ugh) and go to Mozilla and download Firefox and install it. I would suggest that people go to the Mozilla site FIRST and download Firefox BEFORE uninstalling the older version so they have Firefox ready to install when they delete their older version in case the newer version is uninstalled also. Since profiles are "independent" of Firefox, I did not lose any of my personal settings. Also, there was nothing in the Registry at the location specified above.
