Why won't my Firefox sync, even though it's been updated to the New Sync?

I just installed a new hard drive on my laptop, and I cannot get Synch to update anything on the new drive. The old one was on the New Firefox Sync and was fully up-to-date. I added bookmarks to Firefox on the new drive and synced. Then I swapped them back again so the old drive was in the laptop, logged in and synced again. The new bookmarks appeared of FIrefox on the old drive, but I still cannot get anything to sync to the new drive. When I click on sync it turns blue and rotates for about 5 seconds and then stops. Any clue on what to try?

Hi amandaschmidt, Thank you for your question, I understand that you have two drives in the same laptop, the old one syncs, but when you attached the account to the new drive, it does not sync.

I do not know if sync can determine the difference of drives in the same computer/device. The recognition of a different device will happen if the name of the device is unique. When you have the new drive in, is it possible to check the name of the device in the Preference/Options > Sync Menu at the bottom where it says "Device name"?

Unless you have more than one profile for each drive.?Profile Manager - Create, remove or switch Firefox profiles might be helpful if that is the case.
