What is the name of the grey bar at the bottom of Firefox, version 33 . It sits at bottom of Firefox screen. It is usually empty, nothing on it.. I can also x it out to delete it. It sits just above the dock icons on my Mac desktop.

Can you attach a screenshot?

  • Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot
  • Make sure that you do not exceed the maximum size of 1 MB

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

Looks like the old Add-on Bar from Firefox 4-28... Do you use an extension to re-create it?

One place to look for the name of the bar is the Toolbar list. You can access that in any of these ways:

  • right-click a blank area of the tab bar (or another toolbar)
  • right-click the "+" button on the tab bar
  • (menu bar) View > Toolbars
  • "3-bar" menu button > Customize > Show/Hide Toolbars

Note that Firefox shows the Add-on bar automatically if it shows information that has been updated, so you may not be able to hide this bar permanently unless you would remove (disable or uninstall) the weather forecast extension that places this information on it.
