Remove comTracker 1.2.1 permanently from Mozilla Firefox
I want to remove permanently comTracker 1.2.1 Add-on from Mozilla Firefox v33.1. I tried to remove several times but it appeared when I restarted my laptop. It shows a black area on websites which makes me trouble to scroll for long empty space.
OS: Windows 8 64 bit Firefox Version: 33.1
Please help me to remove it permanently.
Chosen solution
The issue solved. I search the comTracker manually & uninstalled it from my laptop.
One thing I can't recognize that, why the comTracker was not listed in Add/Remove programs in Control panel ?

Hello,
See if it is an installed program in your Control Panel > Programs and Features. Uninstall it from there if it is, then try removing it from Firefox one more time.
I can't find any information on it, so if it is some form of malware, you can try scanning with these tools which work alongside your existing antivirus to see if it removes it:
- MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware
- AdwCleaner (for more info, see this alternate AdwCleaner download page)
- Anti-Rootkit Utility - TDSSKiller
- Hitman Pro
- ESET Online Scanner
- Microsoft Safety Scanner
Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.
I already uninstalled it from my Laptop. And I'm having KIS 2014 licensed version. But it arising everytime I started Firefox.
Did you install Firefox from Mozilla?
- (full installers) https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/
If you downloaded from somewhere else, Firefox can be bundled with other malware. In this case, uninstall Firefox from the Control Panel > Programs and Features, and delete the Firefox installation folder:
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\
You should always scan with more than one antivirus/antimalware scanner since each have different methods of detecting malicious files.
Yes, I downloaded & installed from Mozilla. And I updated to latest version, once Mozilla released updates everytime.
Please look at the screen shot attached. I want to block this comTracker.
I am confused by your screenshot. All it shows is that you are missing a plugin, such as Java or Flash (note your Flash is outdated - please update by going to https://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html ).
If you want to hide those frames, you may be able to do so with extensions such as NoScript and block the relevant javascript from running, however, it might take some trial and error to find out what is the best combination of scripts that would allow the sites to work while blocking those.
Edit - fixed the broken hyperlink - right parentheses was included in the URL, added a space.
Modified
The URL you provided is not available. The blank session appears on every website & it doesn't mean the missing some plugin. It appears due to comTracker. Please look at the attached file.
If I clicked Remove, it disappeared & again it appear on restart. But I want to remove it permanently. Please help me.
Hi bala4unow, could you try Disable instead of Remove, and see whether that sticks?
It may be that there is some other software on your system that keeps pushing this extension back into Firefox. Well designed malware protects itself.
I suggest:
(1) Return to the Windows Control Panel, Uninstall a Program. After the list loads, click the "Installed on" column heading to group the infections, I mean, additions, by date. This can help in smoking out undisclosed bundle items that snuck in with some software you agreed to install. Take out as much trash as possible here.
(2) Then, in Firefox, check for any other unrecognized or nonessential extensions and disable them. Open the Add-ons page using either:
- Ctrl+Shift+a
- "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then, if in doubt, disable.
Often a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.
Now... does comTracker stay disabled? If so, you could repeat trying Remove to see whether it stays gone for good.
(3) If the above doesn't work, you can search for remaining issues with the scanning/cleaning tools listed in our support article: Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware. These on-demand scanners are free and take considerable time to run. If they finish quickly and especially if they require payment, you may have a serious infection. I suggest the specialized forums listed in the article in that case.
