I am running Centos.7-x86_64 with kernel 3.10.0-123.13.2.el7.x86_64. rpm -qi flash-plugin returns 11.2.202.425 but about:plugins returns 11.2.202.424. Firefox has been restarted multiple times and the machine rebooted 2x. Still this discrepancy occurs. How to address?

Note that a 32 bit Firefox version needs a 32 bit Shockwave Flash plugin.

You can find the installation path of all plugins on the about:plugins page.

Try to delete the pluginreg.dat file in the Firefox Profile Folder and maybe addons.sqlite as well to reset the plugin registry databases.

See Re-initializing the plugins database:

You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:

  • Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)

Reinitializing the database resolved the issue. Albeit the instructions to find the file had to be read a couple of times.
