Firefox working just fine until this morning. Try to access amazon but get "connection has timed out". Tried google, got the same. Tried another site for a local store, got the same error. But tried Yahoo mail and it loaded fine, including being able to send emails. Regular yahoo works as well. But every other site won't load. Been trying over an hour. We have windows vista and everything's been updated. Tried letting firewall allow firefox, but that didn't change anything.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/searchreset/ It will "do its thing" automatically, then remove itself after a Firefox restart.

Then if that Yahoo homepage comes back after a Firefox restart or a Windows boot or restart, see us for further "fixes"; BTW, Firefox does come with a Yahoo search engine.

It depends upon what Malware was installed and how deeply.

That add-on resets the search engine and home page. It is NOT an anti-virus.

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.

You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.

Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

This Connection is Untrusted is sometimes caused because the computer system clock is wrong. Check the time / date / time zone settings.

Thanks for all those who gave advice.

Turns out the problem was caused by microsoft's newest updates. I did system restore to december 31 which solved the problem and all websites were working as usual. Then microsoft did january 2's update and again the sites stopped working. So i did another system restore to dec 31 and the sites worked again. I won't be letting more updates for the next few days, just to be sure.
