I recently updated Firefox to 36.0.4 and since then the tile view window (showing recently visited sites) when opening a new tab has gone. There is no 'Settings' button in the corner of the screen to turn it on either like theire used to be. How do I get it back?

You can check on the about:config page if the browser.newtab.url is still set to about:newtab

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.
