I have recently set up Thunderbird. I am finding that I can only access emails sent to me for the last week. I cant "find" the older ones that I know I was looking at more than a week ago!

If I retrieve try to retrieve tagged emails- same- it only comes up with emails tagged in the last week.

Thanks Matt. I followed your advice but found that it was ticked to save all messages. So this is not the issue. I suspect it's something really simple, but I just cant figure it out. Each day, the messages that are more than 1 week old drop out of the inbox. I cant access any message or tagged messages that are more than 1 week old! Thanks for any other ideas.

You leave messages in the Inbox? It's quite important that you find out the email provider's retention policy. He may be deleting "old" messages to conserve space. Maybe you need to put them somewhere safe.

I dont think this is the issue, as I was using apple mail until I experienced (different) problems with it- and switched to Thunderbird. I am always able to find old emails in my inbox with apple mail, so I dont think its a provider issue.

is the apple mail account imap or pop? What about the one in Thunderbird.

I would guess Apple mail is pop and Thunderbird is IMAP but please check.
