Unable to save preferences (I deleted the preferences file; no luck)
I cannot save any preferences. I did everything suggested in the help page related to this problem (including deleting the preferences file) but no luck. Note that there is no SAVE button anywhere on any options page so I see no way to make Firefox save the preferences (and just closing out the options panel doesn't save anything).

The about:preferences page that opens in a tab doesn't have an OK or Save button. Changes that you make are applied instantly although additional pop-up windows have an OK or Close button.
Don't you keep changes that you make to settings on the Options/Preferences page?
Thank you for this information. Unfortunately, the problem remains. If I reset my home page to google and restart, it doesn't save google as my homepage.
Not sure what you mean by "Don't you keep changes that you make to settings on the Options/Preferences page?" Is there something I need to do to keep the changes? From the first part of your reply, it sounds like this is supposed to happen automatically, no? Is there something I need to do to save the changes (given that there's no save button)? Thanks again for all your help!
You should keep changes that you make without the need to do anything apart from making the change on the about:preferences page.
If you do not see the changed value if you close and reopen the about:preferences page then something is wrong.
If changes have reverted after closing and restarting Firefox or after a reboot then your security software might be interfering.
