Help > Troubleshooting Information
under Application Basics - see the Profile Folder list item Then use the Show Folder to open the Profile folder. Before you anything with the Profile folder close Firefox, which is in a separate window from viewing that folder.
Not sure what you read, but if you have a JSON bookmarks backup file, you wouldn't want to drop that into your Profile folder. There's a procedure for Restoring thru Library window inside of Firefox.
and where do i find "Application basics" ?
I followed instructions provided by firefox to access the profile folder and it said to just copy the "bookmarksbackup" folder. I copied the whole folder and pasted it into a holding file on my external drive.
Im using windows 10 my old computer was windows 7. Im on a new hp all in one with touch screen.

On the Troubleshooting Information page.
Type this in the URL bar about:support and hit Enter. That is another way to open the Troubleshooting Information page.
my file is a JSON bookmarks backup file. And putting that in the url bar did work to access my profile

When copying over the entire /bookmarksbackup/ folder from another Profile, the places.sqlite file needs to be deleted (OR moved outside of the Profile folder (to keep it safe in case something goes wrong) not sure 'what' instructions you read ) to force Firefox to look to the newest bookmark backup file and use that to build a new places.sqlite file.
