I use a list of shortcuts daily to view the sites I frequent regulary. If I use them to go to the site the adverts show for about 5 seconds or so at the start of the page opening. Then the adverts dissapear. If I copy The URL from the top of the opened page with the sortcut THEN paste it into the Firefox browser I get no adverts at all. I have tediously tried this with most of the sites about 11 or 12 of them. Is it a simple answer as I have no wish to involve taking it to a shop or similar. Mijjey.

I would think this is a Adblock issue as it is a add-on. Try another blocker, several more out there that work better. G'luck

Firefox 42+ has a Tracking Protection feature that is enabled by default in Private Browsing mode. When you are in private browsing mode then Firefox can show a shield icon at the left end of the location/address bar that some content is affected.

You can disable this feature in "Options/Preferences > Privacy" or via the about:privatebrowsing page that get when you open a New Private Window.

  • Options/Preferences > Privacy: "Use Tracking Protection in Private Windows"

Under 'options' I cannot find preferences.

I did find some thing along those lines under privacy browsing. Either way it was switched made no difference to the browsing. I am currently using Internet Express for browsing as that doesn't have the same problem. I have tried other ad blockers but the ones I have tied have been similarly affected. I did not find a password for 'admuncher' so I could not try that one.

Do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.

Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. All these programs have free versions.

Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

You can also do a check for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller.

It was helpful in that I now know that my PC is clean as reported by all except Kapesky. Kapersky said I had 11 problems but I would take those findings with a large pinch of salt. They do want a sale and some of these AV programers exaggerate the findings. I have MSE and Defenders running on this machine and neither of them ( or the updated version online) found anything untoward. I am still using Int.Exp. browser (plus it's adblock) as that seems to not delay the ads. I may give Chrome another chance later today. I would like to solve this though as I do prefer ff.

I just tried browsing my usual pages with ff and with yesterday's additions (I added youtube adblock and another) it took just over two minutes to load any page. Without, about tree seconds. No contest, just the basics for this one. Funny enough my threatening it with Chome has done some good - it is not delaying the ads today (should I whisper that?). Has the problem been solved inadverently? Will it be permanent? I only ran through the malware URL links posted above, that is all I did. Oh and slept since then which means I rebooted it didn't I...... Crossed fingers!

NO! It's back and I have gone to the adblock forums. Perhaps they can throw some light on this.
