One of my computers is running slow. I have been working to correct this. Can you help me? there is no room here to ask the needed questons.
The computer I am working on is a Dell it is old and slow with to little memory and to small HDD. We run Foxfire 47.0. Been using Foxfire for years. When using Foxfire over time (two weeks) the computer is slowing down to and untenable level. I clean the HDD C and run defrag to get the computer to run at an good speed . The computer does ever thing it is told to do most time. But it may take four to five minutes to do it. The computer I am using to send this text is my computer it does have these problems.
Number one question: I want to remove files from the HDD. I have found a folder at C: ... \Foxfire\Profiles\ ... \entries\ with 8174 files it (with files names are like this 05f4628...ce061766 that is forty character). When I was deleting the files I found that new files were being written into the folder. New files with forty character each. Deleting 2000 files on one day the next day there were 8174 files back in the folder. I can not select all and delete the files as some are being used by some program. How can I stop new files from being written to the folder? Does Foxfire write and use all these files?

Hi
This does not sound like an issue with Firefox, but more of a problem with Windows.
I recommend that you seek assistance from a specialist Microsoft Windows support forum with this.

I do not have this. What is the full path name?
Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.
A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh).
Is the problem still there?
While still in Safe Mode,
Type about:support in the address bar and press Enter. Under the main banner, press the button; Copy Text To Clipboard.. Then in the reply box at the bottom of this page, do a right click in the box and select Paste. This will show us your system details. No Personal Information Is Collected.
Seburo: I will search Windows support.

I will get info today! I will get back to you tonight.
TO: FredMcD The full path is "C: Documents and Settings\authorized user\Local Settings\Appilcation Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\1ml4kd8n.default\cache2\entries\"
Started Firefox in Safe Mode. Problem is still there In just a few minutes thirty new files were written to the folder ...\entries. Each file has forty characters in its name. Most of these files are small about 100k or less. Some files are large like forty megabite.
can not sent the computer info now Maybe soon.
That's the cache folder. Don't "delete" those files, they'll just be created all over again - clear the cache properly to get rid of the data and let the file structure exist.
- Click the menu button , choose History, and then "Clear Recent History...".
- Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
- Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
- From the details list, check Cache and Cookies and uncheck everything else.
- Now click the "Clear Now" button.
Further information can be found in the Delete browsing, search and download history on Firefox article.
OR - don't save browsing history at all.
And BTW, it ain't Foxfire - it's called Firefox!
Foxfire is a bio-luminescent fungus.
