trying to install mozilla but it's asking this link needs to be open with an application

I deleted all the chrome and mozilla updates due to slow and lagging game play. I went to mozilla website clicked download. The file went to my download folder, but it's telling me "this link needs to be open with an application". I am afraid I deleted a major file.
