I was receiving the following error for GMail despite my online password being fine:

"Sending of password for user me@gmail.com did not succeed...Web login required"

Chosen solution

I replaced "googlemail.com" (as I had been using for a long time) with "gmail.com" as mentioned on their site and the problem went away.
