import email list from text file
I need to import a mailing list into Thunderbird from a text file, or some other sort of file. I know how to add addresses individually, but that is tedious and time-consuming for a list this size. I have it as a text file but I could convert it to a comma-delimited or tab-delimited file, if that will work. Can this be done?

Also, someone has the list on their email system, what ever it is, and sent out a message to everyone on the list, including me. Is there a way to make a mailing list from the TO list of that email?
Thunderbird's Address Book can indeed import from CSV files. This article:
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Import_address_list_from_text_file
lists the fields you you use.
The MoreFunctionsForAddressBook add-on will allow you to collect the addressees in a message into an address book or mailing list. If you want to search multiple messages for addresses contained in them, the Email Address Crawler add-on can be used to gather them.
Both add-ons can be found at this site: https://freeshell.de/~kaosmos/index-en.html
MoreFunctionsForAddressBook is what I need. I downloaded the XPI file, but now I can't figure how to install it. (I did these things a few years ago, but it is different now.) I went to Tools, Add-ons, and it brings up the Add-ons Manager but I don't see how to install it. How is that done? (Latest version of TB.)

OK, I used the drag-and-drop option - just had to figure out that it has to be dropped on the left. I restarted TB and it is there under Tools/Address book/Tools. But all three of the "action" items on its menu are disabled, so I still need some help in getting it to make a list from the "to" on an email.
Right-click any address in the header pane of a message, 'Save recipients addresses', then select the option to save to an address book or mailing list.
That worked - tested and it all works. Thank you.
