Did a clean install of both Firefox and Thunderbird on a fresh install of win 7. I havee installed, & uninstalled several times, but I continually get "Firefox is already running, but is not responding. The old Firefox process must be closed to open a new window.

Ditto for tbird. Immediately afterwards, I get "Your Firefox profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible.

Have taken it off completely with each install, and the problem does not resolve. Have been downloading the new installs from sourceforge, with no change-- same errata over and over. Ready to just give up in disgust and use other programs instead.

If this doesn't fix the problem, please ask in the Firefox forum.

Are you trying to restore an existing profile?

Have taken it off completely with each install, and the problem does not resolve.

You can re-install as many times as you want, you're just wasting your time. Profile files are stored separately from the Thunderbird program files. The program files are static and do not change (except when you upgrade the Thunderbird application version). Because we store profile and program files separately, you can uninstall Thunderbird without losing your messages and settings, and if something goes wrong with a Thunderbird update your information will still be available. It also means that you don't have to reinstall Thunderbird in order to delete your information or troubleshoot a problem. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-where-thunderbird-stores-user-data

Have been downloading the new installs from sourceforge,

Download Firefox and Thunderbird only from https://www.mozilla.org For Thunderbird: https://www.mozilla.org/thunderbird/
