Why do I get a blank page whenever I click on a magnetic link that says the address wasn't understood?

It also seems like some torrent sites might be getting blocked.

Has Firefox been setup to do this by default?

The address wasn’t understood

Firefox doesn’t know how to open this address, because one of the following protocols (magnet) isn’t associated with any program or is not allowed in this context.

You might need to install other software to open this address.

I get why you want to use tor-browser; but I also have a vpn. BTW, you only get DMCA warnings when you start seeding. Also, as long as the vpn is using UDP, you want get any warnings. TCP won't work.

Thanks for the reply; but I still need to get this to work on my normal Firefox.

YANDEX browser will do this with no problem. It's blazingly fast and will import ALL Firefox bookmarks without error, including nested folders and bookmark bar. It just won't let you set a proper homepage.

See:

Magnetic links are just links. Apparently there's no protocol associated with them. So I don't see how registering the protocol could work.

You are correct that Firefox does not know what to do with the link as it is not a Torrent Client and the Tor Browser is also not a Torrent Client.

You need a Torrent client installed. Once the client is installed when you click on a torrent link or a magnetic link it will transfer the url to the Client.

There are many Torrent Clients to choose from, choose safely http://www.techradar.com/news/the-best-free-torrent-client

Alternatively you can register for a free account at lets say here https://bitport.io/ or a place with similar services and then you mouse over the Magnetic Link and Right Click and Save URL then paste it into the Torrent part of the account.

This is more safe than a Torrent Client though to get larger file storage you will have to pay. Or you can get a Free VPN or a paid VPN.

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.
