How do I export Passwords as HTML for Chrome Import?

more options

We are now using Chrome as much as Firefox, but we need to copy the Password logins from FF to Chrome.

Chrome wants a HTML file. Firefox exports as XML or CSV.

So how do we export to use on Chrome? Is there some clever little app that can do it and SEE Firefox from Chrome to export?

We use Firefox a lot for developing, but need Chrome for other purposes.

hi, press ctrl+shift+b in firefox in order to open the library - on the top there you'll have a "import & backup" menu with an option to export the bookmarks as html.

"Bookmarks"....???

oops sorry, i missread - but doesn't the chrome import wizard cover passwords from firefox? https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/95418

The import wizard looks for the HTML file. But the Firefox export, only exports the Bookmarks in HTML, not the Passwords.

Booksmarks have gone over fine.

It's passwords where there is a file type conflict.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/password-exporter Password Exporter This extension allows you to export your saved passwords and disabled login hosts using XML or CSV files that can be imported later.

Yes it does... but chrome wants HTML files, not XML or CSV. There lies the issue.

For Bookmarks it's easy. But for Passwords, there is a file type conflict.

You would have to create this HTML file yourself using the data in the CSV or XML backup generated by Saved Password Editor using a file created by Google Chrome as a start.

So it's not straight forward by any means....

Hello,

If you are using Windows then try PasswordFox It still works on Windows 10 and FireFox 57.04 - tested ok

PasswordFox v1.58 - Extract the user names/passwords stored in Firefox http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/passwordfox.html

http://www.nirsoft.net/toolsdownload/passwordfox-x64.zip

Its a fairly straight forward app.

Run: PasswordFox.exe Edit: Select all File: Save Selected Items

Supports txt, xml, csv and vertical and horizontal html export.

btw... PasswordFox has been around for a long time.
