How do I save extensions before resetting FF?

more options

By design, when resetting FF, all extensions are deleted. I find the extensions valuable, and re-enter them into the reset FF. So far, the only thing that works, is tedious hand copying the extensions, and then re-entering them into the reset FF. Any simpler suggestions?

My ISP is: Juno (I don't recommend it. Through the years, it keeps getting worse.) My OS is: Windows 7 My Search Engine is: Duckduckgo

Thanx; Nick M.

Hi, when you see the folder Old Firefox Data, copy all the relevant data into the new profile folder, or make a backup of your current profile by going to about:profiles, clicking on the Open Folder button there, and copying that folder to the desktop as a backup. Next time you need to use Refresh Firefox, copy the data from that folder into the new fresh Firefox profile in the same location as the old one was. If this solved your problem, please mark as solution so others know how to fix this issue!

There's no perfect answer to this because extensions save their data and settings in different ways. However, the actual extension themselves are stored in a folder named extensions and if Firefox discovers a bunch of previously unknown extensions in that folder that you copied in, the next time you start up it should prompt you about whether to enable them.

Hi, MkII -

Thank you for the solution; it makes sense.

I have a mental defect - it's like I have to be fed pablum slowly, by the teaspoonful.

I realize that you have a busy day, and won't detract from it, but do you perchance have a step by step procedure? If not, thanx, I'll try again and figure it out.

Best regards, Nick M.

Hi Nick, I've posted steps to copy everything for users who didn't mean to Refresh and weren't experience severe problems before. Maybe that will help? See: I did a Reset of Firefox - How do i get add my 'Old firefox data' back?
