I'm trying to import my address book from outlook and I can't. When I position my mouse pointer over the outlook option the message "currently disabled due to bug 1175055" appears. if I click on the outlook option then continue nothing happens. This is a new install using the latest version of Thunderbird. I seem to get the same result trying to import my input folder.

two issues here.

1, The good news is the next version of Thunderbird should have the import option restored and you can follow the action here. https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1176748

2, Are you trying to import from outlook the application (which import is disabled) or outlook the web site, which works fine as it is simply added to Thunderbird as an existing account.

I guess what you are saying is that this is a known problem with no fix until next release after 54.4.0. And yes I'm trying to import from outlook application

Export the address book from outlook as a .csv file. .csv files can be imported into Thunderbird, In 'Address Book' 'Tools' > 'Import' during the process you will get the opportunity to map the outlook .csv address fields to match Thunderbird. However, you could modify the .csv file to use same address fields as thunderbird which may make the process of importing a bit easier. link lists those field names. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Import_address_list_from_text_file
