New PC. When bookmarks copied from thumb drive to new PC old pc gets double bookmarks. How do I avoid this?
I purchased a new laptop. I exported bookmarks to an html file on my desktop and copied them to a thumb drive. I then copied them to my new laptop. I then imported the bookmarks into Firefox on the laptop. They were magically added to the bookmarks on my desktop. It took a long time to delete the extraneous bookmarks.
How do I avoid this?
Chosen solution
Note that easiest would have been to restore the most recent JSON backup.
- Bookmarks -> Show All Bookmarks -> Import & Backup -> Restore
When you import an HTML backup then the bookmarks in the file are merged with existing bookmarks, so you can expect a lot of duplicates.
- Bookmarks Organizer: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/bookmarks-organizer/
