I set up a new account and received the confirmation email and clicke on the links but when I go to login to mozilla support it says the account is inactive

Hi, well your signed in here.
For what are you trying to sign into as there are newsletters, Pocket, Screenshot. Sync, a bunch more.
If this is for Sync and you are not syncing devices (plural) then stop now as Sync is not designed as a backup service.
