How to move a bookmark to the menu from the library and set that location as the default.
I have Windows 7 Pro on a HP laptop. The new version of Mozilla stores bookmarks in the library or some other place. I want them in the bookmark menu list. I can't move them either. Help! I can't find anything anymore. I used to be able to find them and move them. What is up with this library nonsense and other bookmark lists anyways?

Hmm, I just posted a long reply in your other thread. Here, I will describe where bookmarks go and how to edit their folder:
(1) By default, Firefox adds new bookmarks to the "Other Bookmarks" list.
(2) You can use an add-on to select a different default destination. See: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/default-bookmark-folder/ -- after installation, go to its option page to select your preferred folder (otherwise, it stays the same)
(3) When you add a new bookmark, you have the option to show or not show a drop-down panel. Here's where you set that option:

To call up the edit for a bookmark to the current page, you can either:
- click the blue star at the right end of the address bar, in the Page Actions area
- click the Page Actions menu button (•••) and then click Edit This Bookmark
- press Ctrl+d
If your blue star is not in the Page Actions area, you can click the Page Actions menu button (•••) and then right-click the Bookmark This Page / Edit This Bookmark entry, and choose Add to Address Bar.
Thanks for taking the time to respond, but I have no idea what you're talking about. What is an add-on? How do I move bookmarks from one list to another? How do I set a default location in Firefox? (Mine defaults to an icon called the library - I unpinned that icon from the taskbar, I hope that stops it - but how to reset the default to bookmark menu, or at least move them?) Note that it was easy to do in older versions of firefox, so why is it made so difficult now?

An add-on is a program that extends Firefox with new features. The most common place to find them is the Mozilla Add-ons site. Most add-ons are created by independent developers, not by Mozilla, so you should check their reviews to make sure they are well-regarded before installing.

You can use this add-on: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/default-bookmark-folder/

How do you usually add a new bookmark? In Firefox 4-56, the default folder was different depending on the method you used:
- Click star icon on the address bar => Other Bookmarks
- Use a menu item or press Ctrl+d => Bookmarks Menu
Now in Firefox 57+, those all work the same way, they all add to Other Bookmarks. To change that, use the add-on mentioned earlier.
In older versions, you simply had to click on "move" to move a url then select bookmarks menu. That option no longer appears. I'm just going to use a different browser. Thanks anyways.
Hi bernieb2, I don't remember a "move" button or command. Would be handy. When you find a browser that has it, let us know which one it is.
