I've mistakenly marked all my unread messages from yesterday as read and would like to undo this. Is there a way from me to this? i have tried using the undoe functionality to no effect.

Simple. Select messages, right-click > Mark > As unread. Alternatively, select messages and press M on your keyboard. M marks as unread, R marks as read.
