TB frequently rebuilding indexes
Running TB 78.4.0 (64 bit) on Win 8.1 Several times per hour, on clicking on an email folder, the display is not updated and TB says at the bottom 'rebuilding indexes'. This can happen on several folders at the same time. Often, but not always, when the folder comes available again after a while, I found that the retention settings for that folder have been set back to the default. So far I've tried:
- disabled antivirus (whitelisted the profile directory and also disabled pop3/imap scan)
- restarted in safe mode
- checked that Windows indexing was disabled
- tried various settings on 'Compact all folders when it will save over xxx'
- tried various settings on email download frequency
- cleared TB cache
- clicked on 'repair folder' on each folder
Any suggestion is welcome...

To be more precise, TB says at the bottom 'building summary file for <folder>' when that happens
Do you run ccleaner? And what antivirus is installed?
I have not run ccleaner recently; should I try that? Antivirus is Avira Security ver 1.0.39.12408
I suggest you rebuild the folders by backing up the current messages, deleting the mbox and msf files for the folder, then restarting TB with newly created folders.
I've run ccleaner on the registry and it deleted a few broken references to TB. Since then the situation is much improved. I'll report back if it starts again. Thanks
Thanks for the update. However, I would not expect registry changes to help performance, or help what you describe.
