Cannot stop junk emails
I have tried for a month to stop 2 companies sending Spam emails. I have made the correct settings and when they arrive, I send them to the junk box. They all show there.
But still emails arrive from the same companies. I don't want to contact them, as that just confirms my email address. Is there a solution?

I have made the correct settings
What settings?
The ones recommended by Thunderbird
Clear as mud. Be more specific.
Under Settings I have enabled Adaptive junk controls Move to the junk folder, and empty after 7 days. I also use anti-virus software
If companies added my email address to their subscription list, that is why they keep getting sent. I want to stop that. Is there a "Black List" function I can use?
Is this such an unusual problem? Regards Drachsi
In general, you do need to train the Thunderbird built-in spam filter. See https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/thunderbird-and-junk-spam-messages

In case of legitimate companies unsubscribing from those lists may actually work, but there's no guarantee. As long as the sender email is not constantly shifting you could also create a filer to delete those messages right away. https://support.mozilla.org/kb/organize-your-messages-using-filters
Unsubscribing obviously won't work for "real" spam messages. As you said it would make the email address even more valuable for spammers. The attempt to fight spam messages with static filters is futile as sender email addresses are constantly shifting. I don't think there's much you can do, other than let the spam filter do it's work.
