I have multiple email accounts setup on Thunderbird. 91.5.1 (64-bit)

When I navigate to server settings from within the email box / account the usernames are correct for that account. However when I navigate to Tools>Account Settings>Edit SMTP Server for a specific email I expect the "user name" field to be unique for that specific email. If I change the user name for account #1 I would not expect it to automatically update user name for account #2 it also updated the username for account #2 but account #2 does also get updated to the wrong user name of account #1.

When sending email from account #2 an error is generated as follows: " Sending of the message failed. An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: <email address>: Sender address rejected: not owned by "user name account #2" address. Please check the message recipient "email address" and try again. " Interestingly I have a 3rd email account setup and it remains independent no matter how often I change the user name for account #1 and account #2. The user name associated with account #2 seems to be synchronized with account #1 but only visible in the small popup screen launched from the "edit smtp server settings" button.

Any ideas?

Please do not reply with the standard message that Thunderbird has nothing to do with the email host or recipient host since this behavior is evident within the Thurnderbird UI and the message posted here is only for reference.

What I need to know is how to disconnect the smtp server settings from being synchronized between two independent email accounts...

Thanks

Do both, account #1, and account #2 point to the same SMTP server?

Open Account Settings, and select account#1 in the left pane. Check 'Outgoing Server - SMTP' at the bottom of the right pane. Which SMTP server is selected for account#1?

Check account#2 the same way.

Previously both account #1 and account #2 were sharing the same smtp server - I didn't realize that so I created a new smtp server with the credentials for account #2. Then when I edited the smtp I selected from the drop down the new smtp server I created. Now when I attempt to send from account #2 it hangs at the sending process status bar.

I deleted the mail account and also the server I created. Then I recreated the account, but rather than choosing the "configure manually" method I let thunderbird do it automatically. This time Thunderbird create an SMTP server automatically and it is correct. I can also send emails without any issue from both account #1 and #2. There is definitely a glitch in the system for manual setup and if coming from another email client that requires private email accounts to be setup manually that is the users normal course of action. In this case I think Mozilla Thunderbird has it wrong and setup is painful if you don't follow their intended path which I thin generally is not the manual configuration.

For now I consider the issue resolved but the problem with Thunderbird still exists. I have seen other users with very similar issues as to how the arrived but none that clearly state the problem or the solution.
