When trying to open the Firefox icon on my computer I was told cant I open the application “Firefox” "because it may be damaged or incomplete." SOMEHOW HAVE NOW GOT AN ICON MARKED FIREFOX 2 AND MANY OF MY IMPORTANT BOOKMARKS HAVE DISAPPEARED

Can you show us the issue. What version of Firefox? What version of Mac are you running? Try downloading a different version of Firefox from Mozilla, run it and see if you have the same issue. https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/#product-desktop-release Did you use Sync?
