Why doesn't VUDU support Firefox in HDX mode?

I can't stand Microsoft Edge. It's a CPU and memory hog. However, I must resort to using it when I watch a video from VUDU on any of my workstations. According to the fine folks at VUDU, Firefox is not supported in HDX or 1080i mode when using the VUDU site. According to the info that shows when you launch VUDU on a Windows device (in this case, Windows 10 or Windows 11) using Firefox, you get a message that the video is only supported in SD or 720 dpi mode. To get anything above SD mode, you have to use Microsoft Edge. Is there a developmental issue preventing such use or is this a limitation forced on Firefox users because Microsoft does want you using anything but Edge?

It's just a bit frustrated to have to use MS Edge instead of my default browser, Firefox. For the record, I just checked to be sure. There's a marked difference in resolution between Firefox and Edge on the same video.

I don't think there's any technological issue in Firefox, that prevents the use of higher resolution.

Do you have a publicly accessible URL to a exemplary video to test that issue?

Unfortunately, there is no "public option" that I know of.

A message like this appeared on one of the movies I was considering purchasing, "HDX - Microsoft Edge, SD - Firefox,... "

Right now, I do not remember that movie. It may have been related to the initial format of the movie. However, I find that a bit difficult to believe.

On June 28, 2022, I did open VUDU, logged in, and opened AVATAR. The opening scenes with the spaceship is what I compared. When I did this, I did notice a resolution difference between Edge & Firefox. This AM, July 7, 2022, I did the same thing and the difference wasn't as prominent.

Perhaps it was just that one movie I was considering that had the limitation. I don't know. To be candid, I don't remember which movie it was. I just went ahead and viewed it via Edge.

The issue prompted the question. If I determine which movie it was, I will repost the question.

Sorry... I take care of my 89 yo mom, who has some dementia issues. There are days I think it affects me!

They already told you the same.
