I have had TB installed before today with a myriad of settings, extensions, mailboxes and whatnot.

This morning, I accidentally upgraded TB using winget (the hyped up MS package manager). The new installation opened as though I had never used TB before, asking me to connect an email address. Also, all the configurations, settings, extensions have gone.

I have looked in the profiles directory under C:\Users\thymaro\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles and my profile from before seems to reside still in this location.

After backing up the profiles.ini file under C:\Users\thymaro\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird, I deleted a few lines that were written by the new installation, so that my old profile would be loaded instead of a new one being created. I also deleted the new profile diretory to motivate TB to use the original profile. That didn't work.

I guess some settings were changed elsewhere that tell TB to create a new profile and to forget the old profile, but what do I need to edit to make TB fall in love with the old profile once again?

TB Version: 102.4.2 Win10

Hello

no great idea about your specific problem without seeing what's in your profile.ini, but how about launching

thunderbird --profileManager

to see if your profile is seen ? if yes, it would allow you to switch to it.
