I have been struggling with a slow Firefox (3.6.12 I think) for months it seems. Yesterday I decided to completely remove Firefox from the computer and reinstall it from scratch. I did so with no change in speed. This morning version 3.6.13 installed and it is acting the same way. I suspect Norton 360 from hijacking the processor for scans, but it is not supposed to be doing that. What else could make my browser so slow? (Right now I am running Safari with no issues, Opera also operates with no issues, as well as IE.)

I have the same problem except that I am on Windows SP3. And 3.6.13 is even slower than 3.6.12. Starting or stopping it takes minutes. I removed all my cookies but did not help. IE8 is running fine. I also run Norton 360. Later.... I tried starting in Safe Mode - did not help. For example, bringing up NYTIMES.com in a tab is taking over 5 minutes and is still going.

Ron, That further convinces me that it may be an interface issue between Fierfox 3.6.13 and Norton 360. Thanks for your response.

I rebooted my system and now, 24 hours later, the slowdown has vanished - that is, Firefox is running fine. Reason unclear: I ran a Norton comprehensive scan overnight, finding nothing, then rebooted the system, and all is well!

my firefox 3.6.13 is so laggy.. often not responding for several seconds... this firefox keeps growing bigger and more complicated .. until matched up with IE... i hate iE. well on the other hand could be due to my pc.. i don't rule that out.. but my old firefox seems to be better...
