Everything looks different and many old features appear to be gone. All open tabs close automatically on exit without save option and there is no ability to go back to an open page within the same tab without backing through each page(no pull down bar). 4 is not friendly or efficient at all compared to 3.16.6. When you exit it closes all tabs that are open with no option to save and I can not get any of the help or feedback functions in the help menu to open.

If you want Firefox to warn you when you exit, one change in Firefox 4 is to by default stop Firefox displaying the warning message, but it can be turned back on by changing some preferences.

  1. Type about:config into the location bar and press enter
  2. Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
  3. Locate the preference browser.tabs.warnOnClose, if its value is set to false, double-click on it to change its value to true
  4. Repeat this for these 3 preferences browser.warnOnQuit, browser.warnOnRestart and browser.showQuitWarning

An alternative is to set Firefox to automatically open your last set of tabs when you start Firefox.

  1. Open the Options window and go to the General panel
  2. Change the setting "When Firefox starts" to "Show my windows and tabs from last time"

As for the drop-down list on the back/forward arrows, you can get the drop down list by either right-clicking on the back/forward buttons, or holding down the left button until the list appears.

Thanks Tony,

Thanks for the help. I love Firefox and have used it as my primary browser over all others for years for both PC and Mac, so I was totally shocked when this occurred. I'll give all of these a try, but am still curious why when I have upgraded several iterations of 3.6.xx that it kept my presets and preferences, etc., and there was nothing even remotely close to that done with 4. They should have at least stated on the upgrade page that none of these would be done and I would have to reset all of these. If they had I might have been able to save, or at least book mark all of my open tabs. As it was, I lost them all. Also, do I have to do something special with everything under the Help Menu Tab as none of them would open when I clicked on them, or has that been addressed? I had to post my issues on another computer and have subsequently reinstalled 3.6.16 to replace 4 and all of the features I lost were there automatically with it, and it did not have anything but 4 on my machine to work with.

Thanks again,
