automatic upgrade to 3.6.16 result in loss of my bookmarks???

when i opened my firefox browser,,it starts with installing updates and the browser was updated to 3.6.16 but when i looked at my bookmark list ----it was empty and even this firefox is not restoring bookmarks from previously saved file. what to do now????

This can be a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.
