Making a bookmark, Mozilla only shows me 4 of my folders. Others invisible. What's wrong?

On v3 and on the newly-acquired v4 I have the same problem. I am new to Firefox (a refugee from IE), so this might result from my ignorance.

I click on Bookmark button and "Bookmark this page". A drop-down appears. When I click to open the list of folders, it only shows me a few of them. I have 8 top-level bookmark folders. It appears that four of five of them are not open for business when I am creating new bookmarks.

Would appreciate guidance. Regards, Ron McLaren

Chosen solution

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

In Firefox 4 you can use one of these to start in Safe mode:

  • Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
  • Hold down the Shift key while double clicking the Firefox desktop shortcut (Windows)

Thanks for replying, Cor-el.

As I suspected, this turns out to be my error. Now I have found the right way of doing it, all is well.

You're welcome

You need to click the "Choose.." button or the drop down marker at the far end side of the folder field to see the complete folder structure.
