How do I display my bookmarks in a sidebar? Firefox 4.

Firefox 4 had a view window of bookmarks on the left. Firefox crashed and when I restarted it the handy left panel of bookmarks was gone. How do I get it back? It used to be easy. Now it's a pain in the b*tt if it is even possible at all. That side panel is what kept me from trying other browsers. How do I get it back?

I have already spent more time trying to solve this than I wanted to do when I have other work to take care of. This should be easy and obvious...the way it used to be.

Perhaps you could explain what you have already tried. That would give a better idea of what to suggest. Here are some things I would try. 1. If you haven't tried pressing ctrl+b, try that ie (hold down the CTRL key and pus the B key.)

If you have already tried that, you might try checking for FFX and addon updates, disabling or uninstalling any bookmark(or other) extensions you have. Then you can restart FFX and try ctrl+b again. If that works, reinstall your addons one at a time.

Note: Some addons are not yet compatible with the newest version of FFX. Hope this is helpful.

{ Ctrl + B } works in Firefox to display your Bookmarks in the Sidebar, just like it did in older versions of IE and in Opera.

I lost the ability to view my bookmarks (or anything else for that matter) in a sidebar to the left of my firefox window. I came to this forum thread and read the first reply above. I held down the ctrl key and pressed the B key as suggested. My bookmarks appeared in a separate window. Not what I was hoping for but at least I could see them. I closed the separate bookmarks window. Then I read the 2nd reply above. Again the same suggestion. I tried it again because I had nothing better to do. This time the bookmarks appeared in a sidebar on the left side of my firefox pane. Go figure.
