I've downloaded 6.0.2 several times. Each time the download doesn't "stick". I keep getting message "you are working with insecure version".

Chosen solution

If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.

Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the DMG file to the desktop

  • Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
  • Install the new version that you have downloaded

Your profile data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data.

I am using 3.6.23 and in updates - I am told there are none. Yet I continue to receive messages from firefox telling me to get a 6 version. Why? If my current version is up to date? Why does firefox not overwrite 3.623 if it is recommended by firefox. I am guessing I have to delete 3.6 and download and install new version - but really why should I do this and why does firefox keep telling me to upgrade?
